CFF and the Indigenous Health & Healing Symposium

Nov 9, CFF founder Catherine Freeman and CFF Programs Coordinator Svea Pitman attended the Indigenous Health and Healing Symposium – Investing in better public policy.

The symposium took place in Melbourne’s Federation Square and speakers were Aunty Joy Wandin-Murphy AO Wurundjeri Senior Traditional Owner, Aunty May O’Brien, Healing Foundation Board Member, Gregory Phillips, Co-Chair, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation Development Team, Mike DeGayne, Chief Executive Officer, Aboriginal Healing Foundation, Ontario, Canada, and Jan Owen AM, Executive Director, Social Ventures Australia.

In response to the Australian Prime Minister’s Apology to Stolen Generations, PM Rudd also announced a Healing Foundation that will support holistic and innovative healing and provide education and evaluation services.

Catherine and Svea received highly valuable information from some of Australia’s most credible and significant policy-makers for Indigenous Australians.

CFF wish to thank and acknowledge Monash University’s Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Services, Professor Steve Wesselingh, and Gregory Phillips, Co-Chair, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Healing Foundation Development Team.
