After a lengthy search and an intensive recruitment process, the board members of the Catherine Freeman Foundation are very pleased to announce the commencement of the new General Manager, Fiona Cummins.
With a background in community capacity building within indigenous communities as well as holding the position as a CEO for a not-for-profit organization, Fiona is very experienced and has a clear understanding of the sector and excellent knowledge of the community development processes the foundation are seeking to implement at Palm Island.
In addition Fiona has completed a Human Movement degree and worked across the Top End of Northern Territory developing and implementing indigenous sports programs. She has completed a post-graduate degree in Business and her Masters Degree in Community Development.
Fiona has experienced the diversity of co-ordinating the Drug Testing Program for the 2000 Sydney Olympics as well as managing the Southern Region Northern Territory Institute of Sport.

Fiona Cummins has a wealth of professional experience and qualifications in Community Development. With a background in elite sport, Fiona completed a Human Movement degree and worked across the Top End in the Northern Territory developing and implementing indigenous sports programs. She has since completed a post-graduate degree in Business and her Masters Degree in Community Development. Fiona managed the Southern Region NT Institute of Sport before heading to Sydney to coordinate the Drug Testing Program for the Sydney Olympics.
More recently, Fiona was the CEO of the RSPCA in the Northern Territory managing operations, policy development, human resource, marketing and media relations. She was very successful in increasing sponsorship and profile of the organisation as well as developing the website and new staffing structure. Fiona has also held the position of Senior Lecturer in Sport and Recreation throughout remote communities in the Northern Territory. She is passionate about empowering people through education, sport and community development.
